The Miles Technology MTI-3 TriSonic™ Imager provides true stereo imaging to the entire audience, even to areas which are far off center!

The MTI-3 is perfect for all stereo applications from high-end home theater to large auditoriums. It is used in performing arts centers, sanctuaries, corporate A/V, nightclubs, schools, auditoriums, multimedia, exhibits, broadcast facilities, production and post-production studios, and installed home theater/audio.

Listening Area Comparison

Unlike any other multichannel approach, the MTI-3 is convenient and cost effective. Patched into a sound system just ahead of the power amplifiers, it combines left and right input signals from any stereo source to create left, center, and right output signals. Two full-bandwidth surround output segnals are also created.

Featuring our patented TriSonic Imaging technology, the MTI-3 creates a smooth, clean "wall" of high-fidelity sound with a precisely-detailed spatial presentation.

Key elements of a mix, such as lead vocals and centered drums, are dramatically reproduced at the center loudspeaker. Other sounds simultaneously localize correctly at the left and right. The unit also offers discrete center and surround operation, for productions needing specific point-source intelligibility.

TriSonic Imaging is fully compatible with all audio and stereo-soundtrack formats. Superior sound quality is accomplished without need for source encoding, equalization, steering, or any dynamic modification. Whether the source is digital or analog, live or recorded, the result is impressive.

The full-bandwidth surround outputs are enhanced with Miles Technology's proprietary SpreadSound™ linear processing circuitry. Without any of the detrimental side effects found in other surround synthesis and decorrelation schemes, each output alone sounds identical to the input, but when listening in stereo, the effect is impressive--spatially enveloping yet totally clean.

Backed by a three-year warranty and made in the U.S.A., the MTI-3 creates the "Ultimate Stereo Soundstage".

MTI-3A Note:
The MTI-3A is identical to the MTI-3 except for the power supply. The MTI-3 comes with a separate, cord-to-cord power supply module. The MTI-3A has an internal power supply (with a toroidal power transformer) and an attached line cord. (Press Home for top)

Technical Description

The MTI-3 TriSonic Imager is designed and built to provide continuous, reliable operation. It incorporates high-quality op amps for low noise and distortion, and +/- 15-volt rails for maximum dynamic range. 1% precision resistors and other quality components are used throughout. Convenient controls are provided for setup and adjustment, and the unit is enclosed in a steel 1U rack-mount chassis.

The MTI-3 includes the patented TriSonic Imaging circuit, dual SpreadSound surround outputs, and a switchable SpreadSound circuit for the main (front) signal path.

The center and surround inputs provide separate discrete signal connections which will route straight through to the respective center and surround loudspeakers. These can be used in combination with TriSonic operation.

Balanced XLR connections are provided for all inputs and outputs. Quarter-inch connectors are also provided at the stereo inputs and TriSonic outputs.

The Surround outputs and level control can easily be reconfigured with a jumper setting to become mono program outputs with balanced connections.

Front-panel controls are provided for Gain, Source Balance, TriSonic Balance, and Surround level. The Setup switch simplifies balancing the loudspeaker levels for optimum imaging performance, and a SpreadSound switch provides stereo sound from mono program sources.

A rear-panel switch allows selection of wideband or band-limited surround outputs. The right-output polarity switch permits the bridged-center loudspeaker connection, using a stereo amplifier (just two amplifier channels) to drive all three front loudspeakers for TriSonic Imaging.
